Alison Dickey

Born and raised in NYC, Alison received her BA in Creative Writing from Vassar College, where she also started drawing and printmaking.

At some point during a decades-long career producing commercials, music videos, and award-winning feature films and working as an advocate for independent film in Los Angeles, she returned to artmaking in earnest. She attended Art Center School of Design ACX program for several years between film work, studying with Erik Sandberg, The Clayton Brothers, and Anne Saitzyk. In recent years, she has participated in workshops with painter Jennifer Pochinski.

Alison draws inspiration from her years in moving images and finds that one informs the other. She now captures a moment with paint: the immediacy of the human figure or face, accidental movement, and occasionally the irresistible cultural phenomenon.
